Pennsbury Gems Gold Announcement

After 30 years of involvement in the Pennsbury Gems Gold travel softball program, manager Les Venella, is retiring.

With his retirement comes the retirement of the Pennsbury Gems Gold team name. Started by Les almost 30 years ago and trademarked by him, the team will continue on under another Pennsbury Gems name, but Gold is retiring.

Les will continue with the Pennsbury Tournament and plans to still be involved in the Pennsbury travel program, he just will no longer act as the team Manager.

At the close of the 2022-2023 season, August 1st, the duties of the Manager will fall directly on Gems Gold head coach Keith Ford. The new team name is Pennsbury Gems National.

Les served as head coach for the Gems Gold from its start in 1999- 2011. He stayed on to manage the team from 2011-2023. With four active grandchildren it is time to turn over the paperwork and logistics to someone else.

Prior to coaching the Gems Gold team, Les started the Pennsbury Tigers, 1995-1997, then moved to Pennsbury Pirates for 2 years, 1997-1999 and onto the Pennsbury Gems Gold in 1999.
